In 1976, Rosario Fuschetto bought King Umberto and the place has been a dining destination ever since. First opened as a pizzeria, Rosario and his brother, Sal eventually expanded to include traditionally elegant dining rooms. From day one, Rosario, a culinary trained chef, insisted on using the finest freshest ingredients that went into his family’s recipes.

After a while, his cousin, Chef Pierto Salvatore took over the kitchen. At the helm of the pizzeria is another cousin, Ciro, the “Pizza Perfectionist.” King Umberto has the distinction of having invented the Grandma Pie, which was originally made as an hors d’oeuvre, served to guests at their catered events. In time, it became so popular they made whole pies of it, served it
in their pizzeria and named it after the person who originated it...grandma. Another delicious invention that comes out of this wonderful kitchen is fried capellini - angel hair pasta with cheese, made into a patty and deep fried... It’s simply addictive!

Booths, banquettes, mirrors, and original photos of Italy make up the comfortable pizzeria side of King Umberto. Take a tour of the photo gallery. Many celebrities, from politicians to sports figures regularly dine here. There’s also an extensive display of customer photos...is yours one of them?

Every customer is treated like family by manager Franco and the entire staff. Rosario, Pietro and Ciro still have the same passion they started with 36 years ago. It’s this gracious attitude and amazing Italian food that has diners returning again and again for years and years.
